A new pave is a brand new section of asphalt installed over the native soil or existing base material.

New paves are mostly used for new construction projects, additional portions of driveways or parking lots, or when grading issues are present and the base needs corrected.

In many instances, it is best to scrap everything and start fresh. The same goes for asphalt. While we attempt to salvage the existing pavement, complete asphalt removal is often the best solution, in both results and cost-effectiveness.

Removal and replacement are exactly what it sounds like. The existing asphalt is removed, an additional base is added as necessary and rolled to grade, and then a new layer of asphalt is applied and rolled to a final thickness.

Once your asphalt base is oxidized and deteriorated to the point where an overlay is no longer an option, a Remove and Replace are needed. Although a simple overlay or seal-coating may be cheaper in the short term, if your pavement needs completely replaced, it will end up saving you money in the long run and is the best investment for your lot.

An overlay is the paving of a second layer of asphalt (1″ minimum) over a layer of existing asphalt. A tack coat primer is used to adhere to the new asphalt to the old.

An overlay is used when the existing pavement is in generally good condition, with a few minor problem areas. Any substantially damaged or deteriorated asphalt will need to be removed and replaced.

Asphalt repairs are essential “spot repairs”. Specific problem areas, if small enough, are repaired with new Hot Mix Asphalt.

Asphalt repairs are needed any time you have a pothole or damaged areas. If not remedied quickly, these small areas will worsen and require much more work. Potholes are also a safety hazard to vehicles and pedestrians.

Seal Coating is the process of applying a liquid coal tar emulsion over existing pavement, in order to protect from moisture, ultraviolet oxidation, and other environmental damages. Seal coating also enhances the appearance of the asphalt by creating a darker, uniform color and appearance.

A Slurry Seal is used as preventative maintenance. Because of its preserving and protective qualities, the lifetime of the pavement is drastically extended and leads to lower maintenance costs over the years.

Hot Rubberized Crackfill is the application of a heated rubber compound to asphalt cracks. This fills the crack and seals it from further water penetration. The cracks are cleared of all vegetation and debris beforehand.

Crackfill is used to repair large, singular cracks. If left untreated, these cracks will lead to further damage, as water seeps in and enters the sub-base of the asphalt, eventually leading to “alligator” cracking, and then potholes.

Hot Rubber is used because it effectively seals the crack, while also being elastic, expanding and contracting with the weather and climate. Crack seal is meant to be a short-term solution, acting as a “band-aid” for the asphalt and preventing any further damage, until an Overlay or Remove & Replace can be performed.

Concrete is a composite construction material consisting of aggregate, cement, and water. There are many different mixes of concrete, used for various purposes.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.) was passed in 1990 to ensure accessibility for those the disabled. These laws are periodically updated and revised. ADA compliance is a necessity that when not met, can lead to fines and lawsuits. We perform many ADA upgrades, including handicap parking stalls, access aisles, curb ramps, signage and markings, truncated domes, and more.

Striping is painted lines and traffic markings on an asphalt or concrete surface. Curb painting, signage, stencils, and handicap parking stalls are also part of striping.

Striping is needed after any asphalt, seal coat, or concrete work that effects existing striping, or when new striping is desired. Striping not only creates a sense of safety for vehicular and pedestrian traffic, but it also dramatically increases the overall appearance of your lot.
